Another video remix from me. This time Sinbad gets a Mangomad makeover. You can download the music from my soundcloud page. The track is called ‘An Easterly Wind Blows’. Get it here.
Very proud to announce my new single, Make Light, which is out today. I hope you feel intrigued enough to watch the fantastic video, directed by Matt Brown. I think this is my strongest release to date, and I hope you all agree. Great contributions from all those I worked with. Thank you Veronika, T Lo, Matt, Hamish, Elph and Elaine for your significant contributions.
Here is my little homage to Fritz Lang’s Metropolis from 1927. This film was an incredible piece of work for its time and ever since seeing the robot to woman scene sometime in my distant past, I’ve always thought (like many others before me, I would imagine) that it would be great to do some modern take on the whole thing. And here’s my effort. rather than try to tell the story of the film in 5 minutes, I opted to make the transformation of the robot into human form the main focus. I hope you enjoy.
The track featured is a self-made creation called The Konspirator, and you can download it absolutely free here.
Really delighted to announce that I”ll be playing at the Midem Fringe in Cannes on Jan 23rd. The gig is at the Palais Des Festivals, where all the big festivals there are held, including the film festival. It should be a great place to show the new Mangomad live set with projected visuals. I have to say a big thanks to Adam Armit for securing me the gig.
I just looked online to get a nice pic of Cannes to accompany this post…to my surprise, one of results was of Borat in the creatively designed ‘mankini’. I had to waste 10 minutes of my life getting the logo for Midem and sticking it on there.
Practically speaking, the mankini is a fantastic piece of simple engineering to keep the male modesty in tact and I cannae wait to get mine out for a brisk dip in the med in January.
This video is a butchered version of a short film directed by Mark Jobson (as yet unreleased). It’s a beautifully shot film, set on location around Edinburgh and beyond.
I started doing the audio design for the film, and as a little aside, I ended up cutting part of the film to one of the tunes from my 1st album, ‘Ad Inifnitum’. A big thanks to Mark for allowing me to share this…incidentally, the original film’s title is ‘The Ballad of Magnus Nomad’.
As it happens (purely by chance), ‘Magnus Nomad’ is an anagram of ‘Mangomad Sun’, so I’ve named this video remix thus!
Just trying out the Soundcloud player on the site. This tune features the words of the late philosopher, Alan Watts. It’s from his ‘Out of our Mids’ lecture series. Well worth a listen if you like that kind of thing.
